Tribute to Mom

by Matt

Mom,
I hate it that you saw me like that
A man in a private hell
Chain and cuffs
You can believe I was crying
Crying on the inside
Crying for you

Longing for your hug
Your gentle touch that calmed me
Calmed me so many times before
When I would come home
Heartbroken and destroyed
I didn't have to be a man for you
You would just put your arms around me
Tell me I'm ok, that you would fix it for me
And I'd melt like butter

No one has affected me like that before
I hate it and love it too, so bittersweet
Because I feel like such a wimp
But for you that's ok
